This precious gem of history was uncovered in the Western Historical Manuscripts Collection archives at Mizzou. The rooster was kept by the official Sargent of Arms at the annual Quantrill Raider reunions. The meeting of CSA partisan rangers who served with Captain Wm Clark Quantrill was held in Oak Grove, MO. Jesse James name is clearly listed on the rooster of attendees.
